Harper Hapless
Morgan Mindful
It’s a typical evening in Switzerland: everything’s normal, the lights are on in people’s homes and in public spaces. People like Harper Hapless and Madison Mindful, are at home reading a good book and gaming on their consoles.
Suddenly all the lights go out. Switzerland has been hit by a power outage. Harper Hapless and Morgan Mindful are plunged into darkness. They wait to see if the power is going to come back on.
Both switch on their torches, but Harper is still in the dark as the batteries in her torch are flat. Her only source of light for now is her smartphone.
Morgan Mindful is better prepared: she has fresh batteries and some spares to keep her torch going.
Harper Hapless can’t cook anything as the stove doesn’t work. There’s just an apple in the fruit bowl that she doesn’t particularly feel like eating. And there’s no more water.
Morgan Mindful is well prepared: she has bottles of water and a camping stove ready for such an eventuality so she can still cook something. She always has a three-day supply of bottled water at home for drinking and cooking.
Harper is feeling down in her dark living room. Her mobile is now useless as she can’t charge it without power.
Morgan, on the other hand, is fine. She has a power bank at home so she can charge her phone.
Important! To stay informed whatever the situation, we recommend you have a battery-powered radio at home along with some spare batteries.
Harper’s shelves are bare. She doesn’t know how she’s going to do get through the next few days. And above all, she’s run out of water.
Morgan Mindful always has well-stocked shelves with bottles of water, tinned food, disinfectant etc., so she’s well equipped to hold out for a couple more days without power.
So be more like Morgan!
